Asha and the Magic Galoshes

Hi there!

I've been working on a short story that's a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Galoshes of Fortune." I've had fun writing it and I wanted to share the cover with you. :)

Sometimes, Movie Adaptations Are Better Than The Books Themselves...

As we all know, there are tons of movies that are adapted from books, inspired by books, or made about books. A vast majority of the time, the movie is enjoyable in its own right, but not as good as the book. This is mostly because the movie doesn't even come close to touching on all of the characters and storylines in the book. It would simply be too long.

However, every once in a while there is a movie adaptation that, dare I say it, is better than the book. Sometimes the movie is MUCH better.

The Princess Bride

In this case, the movie takes all of the awesome parts of the book and makes them into the movie everyone loves. The parts left out are a snooze. I was really surprised when I read the book.

Stardust

Yvaine is much easier to connect with in the movie. Plus, Robert De Niro's flamboyant sky pirate makes it that much funnier.

Chocolat

The book is just weird. Vianne is a witch who knowingly helps Armand commit suicide by feeding her lots of rich foods. Roux ends up with Josephine. Nope.

The movie is hilarious. The End.

Memoirs of a Geisha

This one is easy. The movie (and its soundtrack, thanks to John Williams) is gorgeous.
